Right here goes for the tutorial on originality. I can hear all you newbies saying 'i have a great idea for a plot' then it sucks because someone else has already used it. Thats the tricky bit with plots getting one that is original. There are a few things other than plot that could help to make the game original and here they are:

1. You have to think of what type of thing you would like to see in a game that you havent seen yet. By this i mean a custom menu system could be one. On the menu have what you would like and not what you liked from other games such as the final fantasy series.

2. Another is characters. If your character is not original and he has the same background, attacks and looks as another character then it takes away the enjoyment of playing your game a little. The characters should also have things like different races and have there own personalities.

3. Another is the places in your game. All the towns and cities should be different from one another and all the houses in that town or city should be different. Make up your own names, races and hometowns of your characters don't use existing cities.

4. The game should have all original customised options, graphics and so on but it won't hurt to have a few things from other games. Like for instance the PHS system in final fantasy 7. To use this would be ok but make sure you use different graphics to make it your own.

You may want to put a system in your game which allows you to change the heroes: Sex, Graphics, Occupation and so on. You may want to have a different quest for each one (as long as your game isn't to big).

Mini-games are also a good addition to your game as are side quests. For mini-games see the MINI-GAMES Tutorials.

You may want to have more than one ending to  your game aswell. Also try looking at alternatives to the rm2k system that comes with the programme eg. menu, shop, battles and such.
